He noted that project work had started only in Loharinag Pala and not at Pala Maneri and Bhaironghati. On projects on Teesta Basin, the ministry has advised the Sikkim government to avoid dams and developmental activities above Chungthang area due to ecological and geological sensitivity, he said. Ramesh said the Sikkim government has asked the Environment Ministry to reconsider its stand regarding proposed projects in the Chungthang area. The ministry had advised the Sikkim government to provide complete technical data from a competent source for further consideration of their request, he said adding that state has since submitted the report.
