TN seeks Rs 461 cr to put rly projects on fast track

The gauge conversion of Mayiladuthurai Karaikudi section via Tiruvarur and Thiruthuraipoondi, and a new line between Nagapattinam and Thiruthuraipoondi via Tirukuvalai are yet to be completed. Similarly, the doubling of track between Chengalpattu and Villupuram needs Rs 77 crore more this year, he said. Lack of funds has also affected laying of a new track between Karur and Salem. Other projects like Tindivanam-Nagari, Athipattu-Puttur, Tindivanam-Tiruvannamalai, Erode-Palani and a new line between Chennai and Cuddalore via Mahabalipuram have been affected due to insufficient funds.
