Deepika Padukone stands tall in Delhi winter
Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone was the star attraction at a dinner hosted by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for his Japanese counterpart, Yukio Hatoyama. “She was not only one of the tallest guests but also the bravest. While all others wore heavy winter dresses, she was wearing a saree. She didn’t seem to be bothered about the Delhi winter,” said a Cabinet minister. Padukone was invited as the Japanese prime minister’s wife, Miyuki Hatoyama, had seen Padukone’s debut film, Om Shanti Om, and expressed her desire to meet the actress.

Sensex plunges further, down 460pts

The Sensex is now at 14,948, down 463 points. The NSE Nifty is now at 4,446, down 133 points. ____________________________________________________________ Negative view on state-run oil cos: Fitch Jan cement sales in high double-digit The Sensex continues to be in the negative zone on the back of sustained selling. The realty sector led the fall follwed by metal and auto indices. The realty index has plunged 4.5% to 3,786. The metal and auto indices have shed 4% and 3% to 12,221 and 5,398, respectively. The Sensex is now at 14,985, down 426 points. The index touched its low so far at 14,982. Hero Honda has tumbled over 5% to Rs 1,401. Tata Steel, DLF and Sterlite have plunged 4.5% each to Rs 448, Rs 377 and Rs 633, respectively. Tata Motors has declined over 4% to Rs 447. ACC, ICICI Bank and Mahindra & Mahindra have shed 3.5% each to Rs 798, Rs 717 and Rs 761, respectively. Among the Nifty stocks, Unitech and Hero Honda have slipped 5.5% each to Rs 87 and Rs 1,399, respectively. The NSE Nifty is now at 4,446, down 133 points. The market breadth is fairly negative - out of 2,488 stocks, 1,585 have declined and 823 have advanced so far.
