A spectacular rally on the back of strong global cues has helped our fund managers rake in the profits last week. However, the Smart Portfolios benchmark BSE 200 declined 5 per cent to 1,684 as against 1,773 the preceding week. The value of benchmark"s portfolio appreciated sharply from Rs 9.45 lakh to Rs 9.95 for the week ended May 29, 2009. However, the net worth is still down marginally (0.52 per cent) since the inception of Smart Portfolios on September 1, 2008.

All the four fund managers were active last week and executed 58 trades, 34 of which were on the sell side. Cumulatively, the fund managers were net sellers of Rs 0.99 lakh. In the preceding week, fund managers had bought shares worth Rs 21.93 lakh.
Profit booking on holdings resulted in an increase in their net worth. Amar Ambani"s net worth soared 34.46 per cent to Rs 13.45 lakh, Kashyap Pujara"s net worth zoomed 31.48 per cent to Rs 13.15 lakh. Anand Agarwal"s portfolio value has appreciated by 28.17 per cent while Sadanand Shetty"s net worth has surged 27.18 per cent.
