DoT to impose Rs 132-cr penalty on telcos
The Department of Telecom (DoT) is understood to have decided to slap a total penalty of Rs 132 crore on some major telecom operators for not rolling out services on time after the award of licence and spectrum. The penalty, which will be in the form of liquidated damages (LDs), are for delays since 2005, for which show-cause notices had been issued earlier.

Markets slip again

The markets have slipped back into the negative terrian. The Sensex is now down 20 points at 17,466, and the Nifty is down 14 points at 5,211. _____________________________________________________ Wipro, Sterlite, HDFC Bank and Sun Pharma have slipped 1% each. The market breadth has turned marginally negative, out of 2,884 shares traded, 1,418 have declined and 1,368 have advanced so far on the BSE. Among the sectoral indices, oil & gas and the realty inidces are down around 1% each.
