Electric and hybrid cars dominate
The usually choc-a-bloc bus parking lot at Makuhari Messe was deserted. There were no car company hoardings on the way to the Tokyo Motor Show venue either. Inside, the show was restricted to just three halls. There were no go-go girls in skimpy costumes dancing to loud techno beats. Missing in action were Ferrari and Lamborghini. No Jaguar or Aston Martin, either. Not even Volkswagen. The space normally occupied by the American giants was filled in with paintings by children – on an automotive theme, mind you.

Dr Reddy's to strengthen domestic biz
Hyderabad-based Dr Reddy’s Labs plans to launch new generic drugs in various therapeutic segments to push domestic operations and get back on the list of top 10 companies in the country. The company, ranked 13th with a 2.7 per cent share in the Rs 55,000-crore domestic pharma market, is working to increase domestic sales.

Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee is not the only minister in the UPA cabinet who prefers a four-bedroom flat to a bungalow in Lutyens’ Delhi. Bijoy Krishna Handique, minister of mines, hasn’t shifted to a bungalow either and is quite happy to stay at his existing flat.
