India will not monitor 26/11 trials in Pakistan: Krishna

Indirect taxes see 22% fall
The green shoots visible in the economy failed to enhance government revenue with indirect tax collections — comprising customs, excise and service tax — falling almost 22 per cent to Rs 1,26,903 crore in the April-October period this year. It stood at Rs 1,61,954 crore in the corresponding seven months of 2008-09. The overall decline was led by a 32 per cent fall in customs revenue.

The trading pattern in the Futures & Options (F&O) segment suggests that the Nifty could breach its immediate support of 4,820 and find support at 4,750. Daily technical indicators are currently oversold but without any backing from other studies. According to a technical analyst at JM Financial, the chart set-up remains weak and hence positive surprises are unlikely.

Daiichi Sankyo to leverage Ranbaxy's strength in Mexico

With an estimated population of 107 million people, Mexico is Latin America’s second biggest market after Brazil. The total pharmaceutical market in Mexico is valued at around $10.4 billion and is ranked as the 11th largest market globally. "Our understanding of the Latin American markets and local presence pave the way for an efficient and immediate market entry for Daiichi Sankyo, while priming the channel for the launch of Ranbaxy specialty products in future," Ranbaxy CEO and Managing Director Atul Sobti said. This hybrid model will enable the two companies to leverage their respective strengths in the dominant prescription segment through the newly created division, while continuing expansion in the rapidly evolving Generics market, Sobti said. The Japanese drug maker, Daiichi Sankyo, had acquired Gurgaon-based Ranbaxy Laboratories last year and currently has around 64 per cent stake in it.
